The first wolf management working group meeting will take place at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Regional Office in
Lakewood at 9 a.m. on June 10.

The 24 member group will draft a statewide wolf management plan for submission to the Division of Wildlife (DOW) director.

The DOW’s wolf management working group page will include a link to notes from the meetings and documents that the group will use as the draft plan progresses. The page can be accessed at: http://wildlife.state.co.us/species_cons/GrayWolf/workinggroup/.

The Wolf Management Working Group is composed of members of the livestock, environmental, and sportsman communities as well as wildlife biologists, local government employees, and employees of federal and state government agencies. The multi-disciplinary work group will be asked to develop a draft plan by the end of this year.

Gray wolves have been reintroduced by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service into
Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico and Arizona. Colorado’s wolf management plan will help prepare the state and for the possibility of wolves inhabiting the state in the future by addressing the wide variety of issues surrounding wolves.
